Deck overview

This deck is a high-powered Dimir Reanimator strategy commanded by Taskmaster, Mercenary Mimic. The game plan revolves around loading the graveyard with massive game-ending creatures using efficient enablers like Entomb, Buried Alive, and incidental self-mill artifacts. On Turn 3, the deck deploys Taskmaster, which copies a chosen creature in the graveyard at the beginning of the precombat main phase on Turn 4. A standout line involves copying Phage the Untouchable, which sidesteps Phage's enter-the-battlefield loss trigger because Taskmaster is already on the battlefield, enabling instant-kill combat connections alongside evasion from Wonder or Aqueous Form. Alternatively, copying Archon of Cruelty, Toxrill, the Corrosive, or Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant generates crushing asymmetric attrition. The deck is reinforced by format-ceiling free countermagic, robust tutors, and backup reanimation spells that keep the pressure consistent even through disruption.
