Deck overview

Teval, the Balanced Scale is a Sultai combo-control deck. Teval's attack trigger mills three, returns a land from the graveyard, and creates Zombie Druid tokens, but the deck's real engine is a compact Thassa's Oracle + Demonic Consultation combo. A high tutor suite (Demonic, Vampiric, Grim, Imperial Seal, Beseech, Wishclaw) and Doomsday assemble the same two-card line quickly, while Necropotence, Bolas's Citadel, and Sylvan Library provide draw and card advantage. The deck can also win with Laboratory Maniac after emptying the library, and Teval's graveyard tokens are a backup plan. The commander is a value engine, not the plan; the deck functions without her.
