X Matters by BeardedDwarf

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Zaxara, the Exemplary is both the mana engine and the payoff of this Sultai X-spell deck. The primary plan is to ramp into Zaxara, then use its mana ability to cast large X-cost hydras and sorceries while generating a bonus Hydra token for each one. Secondary paths are the infinite-mana combo with Freed from the Real or Pemmin's Aura on Zaxara, and a slower trample-based beatdown plan using counter-doubling effects. There is no hidden commander; the deck is built entirely around maximizing Zaxara's trigger and mana production. The fastest wins use Exsanguinate or Torment of Hailfire after generating infinite mana.
