Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos midrange strategy centered on Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug possesses high base stats (8/7), flying, haste, and indestructible, but its true engine lies in its ability to create Treasure tokens whenever it takes noncombat damage. The deck weaponizes symmetrical damage sweepers like Blasphemous Act and Chain Reaction, as well as targeted self-burn spells like Cut Propulsion and Fire Covenant, to deal massive noncombat damage to Smaug without destroying it. This generates 13 to 20 Treasure tokens in a single action. Combined with artifact entry and sacrifice payoffs like Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver, and Ingenious Artillerist, this burst of tokens rapidly burns out the entire table or funds a lethal Exsanguinate. Standard ramp and Dragon cost reducers accelerate Smaug onto the board by Turn 6.
