Parunning Up That Hill by user8569174

Format: Commander

Commander: Niv-Mizzet, Parun

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

An Izzet spellslinger/combo deck built around Niv-Mizzet, Parun's draw-and-ping engine. The primary plan is to cast Parun, attach Curiosity or pair Tandem Lookout, then turn each card drawn into damage, creating a deterministic loop that eliminates all opponents. Secondary paths use Talrand and Ovika to turn instants/sorceries into evasive tokens, Grapeshot storm chains, Psychosis Crawler, or Triskaidekaphile's hand-count kill. Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind in the 99 acts as a hidden backup commander, duplicating the ping trigger and supplying an alternate Curiosity outlet. The deck is interactive and counterspell-heavy, but vulnerable to commander removal and must navigate a tapped-heavy mana base to reach its expensive commander.
