Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Voltron aggro build centered around Winter Soldier, Icy Assassin. The core strategy is deploying the commander early on Turn 2 and stacking cheap Equipment and combat enhancements to exploit Winter Soldier's built-in menace, vigilance, and +2/+0 scaling per attached Equipment. High-impact modifiers like Flaming Fist and Yuriko, Blade of the Mighty grant double strike, turning Winter Soldier into a lethal two-hit threat capable of eliminating opponents through commander damage. The deck backs up its primary attacker with a resilient protection suite featuring Bastion Protector, Plaza of Heroes, and low-cost indestructible and hexproof combat tricks. While the deck possesses strong single-target lethality and reliable recovery through cards like Helping Hand and Winter Soldier's own graveyard ability, its clock is inherently linear and sequential. Because it must eliminate opponents one by one over multiple combat steps without extra turns, it gives the table several response cycles to react.
