Deck overview

This mono-black deck operates as a high-velocity reanimator combo and oppressive creature-stax engine helmed by Maha, Its Feathers Night. Leveraging a dense package of 0–1 CMC fast mana and rituals alongside premier unconditional tutors, the deck's primary victory route utilizes Buried Alive to bin Necrotic Ooze, Phyrexian Devourer, and Triskelion (or Walking Ballista), followed by a cheap reanimation spell to assemble an instant-speed, same-turn table kill on Turn 3. Beyond its fast combo potential, the deck features devastating asymmetric control: pairing Maha's static ability (setting opposing base toughness to 1) with Night of Souls' Betrayal or Kaervek, the Spiteful permanently wipes all opposing creatures upon entry. Coupled with hard mana denial via Contamination and asymmetric graveyard lockout through Dauthi Voidwalker, the deck effectively strangles opponents' resources while maintaining redundant backup win conditions including Mikaeus, the Unhallowed loops, Gravecrawler aristocrat engines, and Bolas's Citadel value turns.
