Deck overview

This mono-black Aristocrats deck converts creature deaths into steady life drain and incremental card advantage. It uses low-cost sacrifice outlets like Carrion Feeder and Viscera Seer alongside drain payoffs such as Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat to construct an early engine. Mana acceleration from Dark Ritual, Crypt Ghast, and Cabal Coffers enables powerful mid-game plays, deploying heavy finishers like Kokusho, the Evening Star, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Syr Konrad, the Grim. The high mana cost of Avacyn, Angel of Horror makes her an optional late-game multiplier rather than a necessary centerpiece, allowing the 99 to operate with complete commander independence. While the deck boasts resilient recovery through reanimation and redundant bodies, it is vulnerable to rest-in-peace style graveyard hate and lacks interaction against noncreature permanents.
