Smug by Eggi

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug the Magnificent is a mono-red Treasure-engine deck that converts artifact tokens into overwhelming attack-trigger damage. The primary plan is to amass a large number of Treasures, cast Smaug, then multiply his attack trigger with extra combat spells such as Full Throttle, World at War, and Seize the Day. Because Smaug has haste and his trigger can target any permanent or player, he doubles as spot removal and a finisher. Secondary paths include Hellkite Tyrant's twenty-artifact upkeep win, artifact ETB drain from Hedron Detonator and Reckless Fireweaver, and explosive burn from Isengard Unleashed or Crackle with Power. The deck ramps through Treasures, makes looted cards into more gas via Currency Converter, and can pivot between voltron, go-wide artifacts, and spell-slinging burn.
