Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Golgari midrange strategy centered on Blech, Loafing Pest and the Witherbloom life-gain-and-drain ecosystem. The primary game plan revolves around generating numerous Pest tokens using engines like Sedgemoor Witch, Callous Bloodmage, Beledros Witherbloom, and explosive bursts from Tend the Pests. Once tokens are established, repeatable lifegain sources—such as Pest death triggers, Cauldron of Essence, and High Market—trigger Blech to distribute +1/+1 counters across all Pests, turning diminutive 1/1 tokens into lethal combat threats. Concurrently, aristocrat payoffs like Dina, Soul Steeper and Witherbloom Apprentice apply indirect life loss to the entire table. While capable of devastating board states and rapid recovery through recursion, the deck operates primarily at sorcery speed on the battlefield and remains susceptible to sweepers due to a lack of instant-speed phase-out or board-shielding effects.
