Deck overview

This is an Abzan "toughness matters" midrange deck helmed by Doran, Besieged by Time. The plan is to make high-toughness creatures cheap, deploy toughness-as-power enablers, and turn defensive walls into massive attackers. Doran's combat trigger pumps each attacker by the gap between its power and toughness, while Assault Formation, Bedrock Tortoise, and Ancient Lumberknot make those same creatures deal damage equal to toughness. A tax/pillow-fort layer - Windborn Muse, Painful Quandary, God-Pharaoh's Statue, Aven Mindcensor - buys time to set up an overwhelming alpha strike, often led by Baldin, Century Herdmaster or the half-life trigger of Betor, Kin to All. There are no infinite combos; the deck wins by attrition, giant combat damage, and mass recursion from Eerie Ultimatum and Rise of the Dark Realms.
