Deck overview

This Golgari deck centers on Insect tribal synergies, self-mill, and graveyard recursion led by Grist, Voracious Larva. The primary strategy aims to fill the graveyard rapidly using creatures and enchantments like Ripples of Undeath, Skull Prophet, and Crawling Infestation, turning milled resources into an expansive board of Insect tokens. Transforming Grist or deploying midrange engines such as Zask, Skittering Swarmlord, Amzu, Swarm's Hunger, and Springheart Nantuko provides continuous card advantage and token generation. The deck transitions into a must-answer threat around Turn 6 with mass-token payoffs like Spider Spawning, Bloodline Bidding, and Aatchik, Emerald Radian. Win conditions rely on overwhelming combat damage enhanced by The Swarmweaver and Blex, Vexing Pest, or non-combat drain from Aatchik, Emerald Radian and Fumulus, the Infestation. While the deck recovers well from removal thanks to extensive recursion, it remains vulnerable to sweepers and graveyard exile due to limited defensive counterplay.
