Deck overview

This Gruul spellslinger deck harnesses The Howling Abomination to turn low-cost targeted cantrips into massive bursts of noncombat burn and combat commander damage. Supported by efficient 1-to-2 CMC ramp, the commander deploys on Turn 4. On Turn 5, cheap targeting spells such as Ancestral Anger, Charge Through, and Crimson Wisps trigger repeated +2/+2 stat boosts alongside 2 damage dealt directly to each opponent. Auric engines like Keen Sense and Snake Umbra supercharge this chain by drawing three cards whenever the commander's damage ability resolves, while creatures like Storm-Kiln Artist and Guttersnipe amplify velocity and table-wide attrition. While lacking hard counterspells and stax pieces, the deck compensates with narrow, highly synergistic protective instants that advance its burn clock while blanking opposing removal.
