Deck overview

This Rakdos deck turns self-inflicted damage into an explosive resource engine using Smaug the Impenetrable. Because Smaug is indestructible and creates a Treasure token for each point of noncombat damage dealt to him, massive damage spells like Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, and Cut Propulsion double as total board wipes and titanic mana rituals. The resulting treasure horde immediately converts into lethal table-wide life loss through aristocrat pingers like Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Apprentice, and Reckless Fireweaver. Supported by explosive rituals like Dark Ritual, Seething Song, and Irencrag Feat, the deck rapidly casts its 7-mana commander ahead of curve. Alternate win conditions like Hellkite Tyrant, Knuckles the Echidna, and Dawnsire, Sunstar Dreadnought ensure formidable threat density even if the commander is contested.
