Deck overview

This Queen Marchesa deck employs a classic Mardu Aikido and pillowfort strategy, using defensive permanents, combat manipulation, and stax elements to control the flow of the game. Early turns establish mana acceleration through efficient 2-CMC artifacts and deploy restrictive stax pieces like Rule of Law or attack taxes like Ghostly Prison. Once Queen Marchesa enters, she introduces the monarch mechanic to provide continuous card advantage while deathtouch Assassins deter counterattacks. Rather than racing with aggressive threats, the deck lets opponents wear each other down through goad effects like Disrupt Decorum and Taunt from the Rampart. Decisive closers like Havoc Festival and monarch Courts cut life totals rapidly, while aikido tools such as Deflecting Palm, Brash Taunter, and Inkshield turn opposing alpha strikes into fatal blowouts.
