Deck overview

This Golgari deck is led by Zask, Skittering Swarmlord and focuses on Insect tribal synergy, self-mill, and graveyard aristocrats. The early game focuses on developing mana velocity with land ramp spells and filling the graveyard with utility Insects and lands. On Turn 5, deploying Zask turns the graveyard into a secondary hand, enabling continuous land drops and repeatable casts of utility creatures like Caustic Caterpillar and Haywire Mite. By Turn 6, the deck transitions to a lethal threat state through mass reanimation spells like Living Death and Patriarch's Bidding, or compounding token engines like Scute Swarm and Ant Queen boosted by Beastmaster Ascension or Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest. The finish closes through wide combat swings and table-wide drain from Syr Konrad, the Grim and Bastion of Remembrance by Turn 8. The deck features strong engine recovery and continuous removal, though it remains vulnerable to targeted graveyard exile.
