Deck overview

This Sultai deck is a dedicated Mutate Voltron engine led by Otrimi, the Ever-Playful. The primary strategy deploys low-cost non-Human creatures with built-in protection—such as Slippery Bogle, Silhana Ledgewalker, and Vashta Nerada—and mutates powerful creatures onto them. Merging Otrimi, the Ever-Playful or Brokkos, Apex of Forever onto a hexproof creature creates an elusive, high-power commander that completely ignores spot removal. Each subsequent mutate spell triggers all accumulated abilities beneath it, providing card advantage, land ramp from Auspicious Starrix, and removal via Dirge Bat and Gemrazer. High-power draw spells like Return of the Wildspeaker and Hunter's Insight keep resources flowing. The deck defends its board using phasing effects like Slip Out the Back and efficient counters like Stubborn Denial, systematically eliminating opponents with lethal commander combat damage.
