Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor as a relentless card-advantage engine fueled by low-curve, evasive creatures like Changeling Outcast and Tormented Soul. By consistently connecting for combat damage on Turn 3 and beyond, the deck converts life into cards, rapidly filtering through the library to find mana doublers and asymmetric disruption. The mid-game transitions into resource constriction, using powerful denial synergies like Opposition Agent with Maralen of the Mornsong alongside hand-stripping effects like Dark Deal and Tinybones, Bauble Burglar. With a swollen hand and immense mana generated by Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Gauntlet of Power, the deck closes out the table using high-magnitude X-spells like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate, or chaining spells via Bolas's Citadel. While weak to early sweepers and lacking stack interaction, its explosive card velocity and oppressive denial make it a resilient, heavy-hitting mono-black engine.
