Deck overview

The deck uses Toph, the First Metalbender to make its nontoken artifacts into lands, then uses Meria, Scholar of Antiquity to tap those artifacts for green mana. This creates a conditional mana engine that supports expensive landfall payoffs such as Avenger of Zendikar, Omnath, Locus of Rage, Rampaging Baloths, and Moraug, Fury of Akoum. Earthbending also creates temporary land creatures, while cards such as Bumi, Unleashed, Obuun, Mul Daya Ancestor, and Sylvan Awakening add combat pressure. The deck has useful removal and several sweepers, but its engine needs multiple specific permanents and its access is mostly based on natural draws. It can establish a strong board around turn 7, yet it does not reliably convert that board into a three-player kill or a total lock. Its main strengths are synergy, landfall scaling, and artifact-based mana; its main weaknesses are slow assembly, limited protection, and dependence on combat.
