Commander: The Ur-Dragon

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This The Ur-Dragon deck pursues a classic Gruul dragon-tribal beatdown plan, leveraging the commander's eminence cost reduction alongside a dense package of 25 dragons to deploy threats ahead of curve. The primary game plan is to establish early cost reducers like Dragonlord's Servant and Dragonspeaker Shaman, ramp efficiently, and then chain dragons turn after turn, generating card advantage through The Ur-Dragon's attack trigger, Elemental Bond, and Garruk's Uprising. Winning is accomplished through overwhelming flying combat damage, supplemented by ETB ping from Scourge of Valkas and Dragon Tempest. The deck contains no infinite combos and very little stack interaction, relying instead on raw creature mass, haste enablers like Fires of Yavimaya, and a handful of removal spells to clear blockers. Its manabase is exclusively red and green despite the commander's five-color identity, restricting the 99 to Gruul cards only. ---
