Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose to weaponize lifegain into lethal life loss. Early turns focus on deploying cheap lifelink creatures, aristocrats, and mana rocks. By Turn 4, Vito enters alongside recurring lifegain enablers like Ayara, First of Locthwain and Creeping Bloodsucker to chip away at opposing life totals. Around Turn 6, the deck pivots into lethal pressure using explosive drain spells such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, kicked Blood Tribute, or Vito's activated lifelink ability. The deck also contains an instant win condition with Exquisite Blood, which loops infinitely with Vito whenever any player gains or loses life. While the deck boasts strong creature removal and resilient drain redundancy, its primary vulnerabilities include an inability to remove artifacts and enchantments, a lack of stack interaction, and reliance on creature permanents surviving opposing sweepers.
