Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats and attrition deck is commanded by Avacyn, Angel of Horror. The deck focuses on accelerating into early sacrifice outlets and card draw engines before resolving high-impact permanents and big-mana enablers. Once Avacyn, Angel of Horror hits the battlefield, her ability to resurrect nontoken creatures—including herself—at the beginning of every end step turns sacrifice fodder, edicts, and death triggers into an overwhelming engine. Cards like Accursed Marauder, Plaguecrafter, and Kokusho, the Evening Star can be sacrificed repeatedly on your turn and opponents' turns, locking opposing creature boards out of the game while rapidly draining life totals. Dense mana acceleration via Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx powers out late-game bombs such as Rise of the Dark Realms and Massacre Wurm, allowing the deck to close games cleanly through combat and direct drain within two response cycles.
