Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages Snake and Gorgon typal synergies led by Aphelia, Viper Whisperer. The primary strategy deploys low-cost deathtouch creatures like Ankle Biter, Moss Viper, and Pharika's Chosen to control combat and generate Snake tokens with Aphelia's attack trigger. Once mana reaches five sources, Aphelia activates her {4}{B} ability to cut opponents' life totals in half whenever a Snake or Gorgon connects in combat. Evasion from Cover of Darkness and Access Tunnel ensures combat damage lands reliably. Alternative win conditions include Fynn, the Fangbearer applying lethal poison counters and Wound Reflection immediately converting Aphelia's life-halving into an instant kill. Card advantage is sustained through Skullclamp, Black Market Connections, and Ohran Frostfang, while flexible removal spells like Assassin's Trophy and Toxic Deluge answer opposing threats. The deck recovers smoothly from board wipes by recurring Sosuke's Summons and recasting low-cost deathtouch threats.
