Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Aristocrats control strategy led by Liesa, Forgotten Archangel. The game plan revolves around exploiting Liesa's asymmetric death triggers: your nontoken creatures return to your hand at the end step when they die, while opponents' creatures are exiled instead of hitting the graveyard. The deck leverages this advantage by looping sacrifice-based utility creatures like Selfless Spirit, Kami of False Hope, and Cathar Commando to protect the board and disrupt opponents. Once established, heavy attrition pieces like Dictate of Erebos, Archfiend of Depravity, and Rottenmouth Viper strip opposing boards completely while shutting down enemy graveyard recursion. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through steady drain triggers from Syr Konrad, the Grim, Cruel Celebrant, and Zulaport Cutthroat, or by generating large mana pools with Crypt Ghast and Pitiless Plunderer to cast a lethal Debt to the Deathless or Exsanguinate.
