Deck overview

Avacyn, Angel of Horror commands a relentless Mono-Black Aristocrats and Stax control deck designed to dominate 4-player games through suffocating attrition. The strategy revolves around deploying dense, interchangeable edict creatures like Plaguecrafter and Accursed Marauder alongside asymmetric stax engines such as Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos, and Braids, Cabal Minion. Once assembled, these pieces systematically strip opponents of their boards and mana bases. Avacyn breaks parity completely: whenever any nontoken creature you control dies, it returns to the battlefield at the next end step, turning one-shot sacrifice effects into perpetual loops. High-ceiling payoffs like Tergrid, God of Fright steal opposing permanents as they are sacrificed, while Bolas's Citadel and Syr Konrad, the Grim provide massive card advantage and inescapable drain. Fueled by big-mana engines like Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast, the deck grinds opposing resources to zero before closing with combat damage and life-drain loops.
