Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis midrange strategy centered on Doctor Doom, King of Latveria. It leverages discard synergies, Villain typal triggers, and connive mechanics to generate steady card flow and burn opponents. In the early turns, mana rocks and low-cost Villains like Prowler, Clawed Thief and Baron Strucker, HYDRA Overlord establish a functional board. On Turn 4, Doctor Doom, King of Latveria enters play, granting menace and triggering connive at the beginning of combat. Discarding land cards steadily drains each opponent for 2 life. The midgame accelerates with explosive discard payoffs such as Surly Badgersaur, Archfiend of Ifnir, and M.O.D.O.K.. Cards like Containment Construct, Currency Converter, and Crucible of Worlds convert discarded cards into extra mana, tokens, and virtual card advantage. The deck closes games around Turn 8 through accumulated burn from Faith of the Devoted, Magmakin Artillerist, and recurring combat pressure.
