Deck overview

This mono-black tribal deck centers on Marrow-Gnawer to generate an exponentially multiplying swarm of evasive Rat tokens. In the opening turns, the deck floods the battlefield with low-cost Rat creatures such as Typhoid Rats, Burglar Rat, and Pack Rat, while establishing mana through on-curve artifacts and dark rituals. Once Marrow-Gnawer enters on Turn 4 or 5, it grants all Rats fear and sacrifices single creatures to double the overall Rat count every turn. The deck leverages this exponential token growth alongside tribal payoffs like Karumonix, the Rat King, Valley Rotcaller, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel to overwhelm opposing life totals and poison thresholds. While the deck boasts immense tribal synergy and high redundancy among creature fodder, its primary strategy remains exposed across multiple turn rotations due to a complete lack of counterspells, hexproof protection, or artifact and enchantment removal, relying on mass graveyard reanimation spells like Patriarch's Bidding to recover from board wipes.
