Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Amass Midrange Control strategy commanded by Sauron, the Dark Lord. The primary game plan accelerates into Sauron on turn 4 or 5 using an efficient suite of 2-mana rocks and talismans. Once on the battlefield, Sauron punishes opposing spells by continuously growing an Orc Army token. When the Army connects in combat, the Ring tempts you, allowing you to discard your hand and draw four fresh cards each turn. This card velocity fuels a dense package of interactive spells, protective equipment, and asymmetric board wipes like Widespread Brutality. The deck closes the game through heavy combat damage, granting its massive Army and commander trample, menace, or unblockability via Shadowspear, Orcish Siegemaster, Whispersilk Cloak, or an overrun with Assault on Osgiliath. Innate legendary ward protection and redundant token engines make the deck highly resilient throughout extended multiplayer games.
