Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Grixis deck helmed by Sauron, the Dark Lord is a reanimator-control hybrid that marries a deep graveyard package with a Ring-tempts Wraith army. The primary plan is to bin high-impact creatures with Entomb, Buried Alive, and looting effects, then cheat them into play with Reanimate, Animate Dead, Necromancy, and Victimize. Sauron himself generates card advantage - his amass triggers and the discard-hand-to-draw-four ability keep the hand full while the nine Nazgul and Lord of the Nazgul grow into an evasive, ever-larger army. A control shell of counterspells (Counterspell, Mana Drain, Swan Song) and removal (Toxic Deluge, Deadly Rollick) protects the board. Secondary wins come from overwhelming combat damage and the one-turn steal of In the Darkness Bind Them.
