Format: Commander

Commander: Grandmother Goby

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Grandmother Goby is a mono-blue Merfolk token-control deck that treats its own noncreature spells as fuel. The commander's self-counter replaces each noncreature spell with a number of 1/1 blue Merfolk tokens equal to the mana spent on it, and the build is centered on multiplicative trigger-doublers and un-counterable enablers. Lier, Sphinx of the Final Word, Boseiju, and Benevolent Geist let key draw spells resolve while still feeding the token army. Secondary paths are a counterspell-and-bounce control game and an Opposition/Junk Winder lock that taps the opponent's blockers. There is no hidden commander; the whole plan depends on Grandmother Goby staying on the battlefield and on a wide, islandwalking swarm to close the game.
