Deck overview

Captain Howler, Sea Scourge commands an aggressive Izzet tempo deck that converts card filtering, rummaging, and wheels into massive combat damage and card advantage. The deck deploys evasive threats like Blighted Agent and Invisible Stalker in the opening turns, casts Captain Howler on Turn 4, and uses multi-card discard spells such as Tolarian Winds and Cathartic Reunion to grant huge power buffs to unblocked attackers. Each connected hit draws fresh cards, keeping the hand full to maintain pressure and eliminate one opponent per turn. Secondary payoffs like Ivora, Insatiable Heir, Magmakin Artillerist, and Rielle, the Everwise provide redundant board presence and direct burn. Efficient countermagic and haste enablers like Anger keep the pressure fast and resilient against opposing answers.
