Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov lifegain control deck helmed by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. It aims to stabilize the early game using cheap lifegain permanents such as Soul's Attendant and Authority of the Consuls while slowing opposing aggro. Once the commander lands on Turn 6, its ability to convert lifegain into raw card advantage pulls the deck ahead in resources. The primary win condition is an infinite life-drain loop pairing Bloodthirsty Conqueror with Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, which closes the game in a single turn. If the combo pieces are delayed or targeted, the deck easily pivots to a grinding midrange strategy, leveraging heavy attrition pieces like Sheoldred, Whispering One, Massacre Wurm, Polluted Bonds, and Valgavoth, Terror Eater. While the deck features powerful late-game redundancy, its relatively high mana curve, 32-land count, and vulnerability to instant-speed creature interaction keep its execution grounded in high-synergy casual play.
