Deck overview

This mono-black deck is a synergistic Vampire tribal midrange deck commanded by Drana, the Last Bloodchief. The game plan curves early aggressive Vampires and life-drain pieces into a resilient midgame engine powered by Drana's combat-triggered reanimation. While thin on mana ramp, the deck uses efficient spot removal, graveyard stocking via cards like Buried Alive, and tribal synergy to control the battlefield. Opponents face relentless pressure in the air supported by lords like Vampire Nocturnus and asymmetric drain engines like Sanctum Seeker, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Vein Ripper. Although Drana's trigger permits defending players to choose the returned creature, a curated graveyard ensures every option generates value. The deck grinds down opposing life totals across multiple turns, punishing sweepers with aristocrat triggers while recovering key threats directly to the battlefield.
