Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan combat-aggro deck led by Doran, Besieged by Time. It exploits creatures with disproportionately high toughness compared to power, leveraging Doran's passive cost reduction and self-buffing attack/block trigger (+X/+X where X is the difference between power and toughness). The supporting shell blends defensive early walls, mana ramp, and backup toughness-assigning permanents such as Assault Formation, Bedrock Tortoise, and Ancient Lumberknot. Mid-to-late game pushes utilize sudden toughness spikes like Tower Defense or trample enablers like Overrun and Overcome to overwhelm blockers. Defensive utility comes in the form of Palisade Giant, Ancient Adamantoise, and life-swapping Plants like Tree of Perdition. The deck features reliable removal in white, black, and green, but lacks infinite combos or combo-kill compact lines, aiming instead for methodical, resilient creature-based elimination.
