Nethroi 2 by Nebstein

Format: Commander

Commander: Nethroi, Apex of Death

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Nethroi, Apex of Death leads an Abzan graveyard deck that wins by mass reanimation and incremental value. The primary plan is to mill and discard small creatures, then mutate Nethroi onto a non-Human to return any number of creatures with total power 10 or less. Those creatures drive two overlapping engines: +1/+1 counters (Juniper Order Ranger, Good-Fortune Unicorn, Cathars' Crusade, Reyhan) that build a wide flying board, and aristocrats drain (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Corpse Knight, Cruel Celebrant) with free sac outlets. Secondary paths win through combat with Odric and Abzan Falconer or through Reveillark and Karmic Guide loops. Nethroi is a mass recursion engine. Fiend Artisan and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician act as hidden commanders that tutor and draw when Nethroi is unavailable.
