Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu combat-cheat strategy led by Kaalia of the Vast. The core game plan focuses on casting Kaalia on Turn 4, attacking on Turn 5, and bypassing the heavy casting costs of high-impact Angels, Demons, and Dragons. Cheating cards like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and Utvara Hellkite directly into combat allows the deck to generate overwhelming aerial pressure rapidly. The list also incorporates asymmetric combat control cards like Mudslide and Angelic Arbiter, which hinder non-flying armies while Kaalia's flyers attack unimpeded. A two-card infinite combat loop exists via Hellkite Charger and Sword of Feast and Famine. The deck's primary vulnerabilities stem from thin low-cost ramp, minimal reactive protection, and heavy reliance on an unprotected 2/2 commander surviving a full turn cycle.
