Y'shtola, Night's Blessed leads an Esper control list that turns noncreature spells into life loss and card advantage. The primary plan is to assemble a drain loop-Exquisite Blood plus Sanguine Bond or Vito, or Bloodchief Ascension plus Mindcrank-then start the chain with Y'shtola's triggered damage. Secondary paths include incremental drain through token swarms and big X-spells like Exsanguinate. The commander is both a drain engine and a draw engine, but the combos themselves don't require her on the battlefield. The deck uses counterspells, removal, and a low curve to survive until the pieces align.
