Deck overview

This Jeskai deck is an aggressive Equipment Voltron and combat-control strategy commanded by Captain America, First Avenger. The deck focuses on cheating the steep equip costs of massive weapons—such as Excalibur, Sword of Eden, Colossus Hammer, and Kaldra Compleat—using Captain America's Catch ability at the beginning of combat. Once equipped, the commander swings for devastating chunks of commander damage while holding up instant-speed board control through his Throw ability, which flings high-cost equipment to deal divided direct damage to up to three targets. Dense equipment tutoring from cards like Stoneforge Mystic and Steelshaper's Gift ensures rapid assembly by Turn 4. The deck protects its substantial board investment with free defensive spells like Deflecting Swat and Flawless Maneuver, along with complete phasing engines like Robe of Stars. It steadily eliminates opponents across three combat cycles, backed by extra combat triggers, mass recursion from Mantle of the Ancients, and asymmetric board wipes like Chandra's Ignition.
