Deck overview

This Izzet deck centers on The Emperor of Palamecia, using its mana-generation ability to cast 4-mana noncreature spells and rapidly accumulate +1/+1 counters. Once three counters are placed, it transforms into The Lord Master of Hell, whose Starfall ability deals damage to every opponent equal to the number of noncreature, nonland cards in the graveyard upon attacking. The 99 is densely packed with low-cost cantrips, flashback spells, and loot effects that simultaneously fuel the graveyard and cycle through the deck. A suite of efficient pingers such as Guttersnipe and Firebrand Archer applies continuous life total pressure, while Ophidian Eye and Tandem Lookout convert pings and combat into massive card advantage. Low-cost counterspells and 1-mana hexproof spells protect key permanents during the closing turns.
