Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari Insect tribal and graveyard aristocrats strategy commanded by Grist, the Hunger Tide. Grist enters as early as Turn 3 to build an army of 1/1 Insect tokens while milling the library to fill the graveyard with creature cards. The deck leverages heavy sacrifice synergies, using outlets like Warren Soultrader and Altar of Dementia alongside death triggers from Grave Pact, Aatchik, Emerald Radian, and Mirkwood Bats to control opposing boards and drain life totals. As the graveyard fills, cards like Six, Zask, Skittering Swarmlord, and Seedship Broodtender provide extensive recursion. The deck closes games around Turn 6 or 7 by casting Living Death to return an overwhelming creature board, resolving Craterhoof Behemoth for an unblockable trample assault, or activating Grist's -5 ultimate to deal direct damage equal to the creatures in the graveyard.
