Deck overview

This Gruul deck operates as an all-creature stompy and punisher engine commanded by Ruric Thar, the Unbowed. By dedicating every nonland slot exclusively to creature cards, the deck completely breaks parity on Ruric Thar's 6-damage trigger for noncreature spells. The game plan accelerates in the opening turns using efficient mana dorks like Birds of Paradise and Somberwald Sage, landing Ruric Thar on Turn 4 to lock down opposing spell slingers, combo decks, and artifact ramp. Once the commander establishes board presence, the deck pivots into aggressive damage scaling through stat doublers like Xenagos, God of Revels and Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus, alongside extra combat enablers like Karlach, Fury of Avernus, Port Razer, and Moraug, Fury of Akoum. It also includes a compact infinite combat finish with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Combat Celebrant. Card velocity is sustained through creature-cast and combat triggers, overwhelming the table by Turn 6.
