Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is commanded by Karlov of the Ghost Council, utilizing dense, low-mana lifegain triggers to turn its commander into a rapid clock and a repeatable creature removal engine. By curving Turn 1 or Turn 2 enablers such as Soul's Attendant, Authority of the Consuls, or Serra Ascendant into Karlov, the deck accelerates counter placement to threaten lethal commander damage as early as Turn 4. A suite of efficient black tutors ensures access to protection, interaction, and backup win conditions like Archangel of Thune and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. It can also execute a deterministic finish with Aetherflux Reservoir and Exquisite Blood, firing 50-damage bursts that replenish the life spent. Supported by premier defensive spells like Teferi's Protection and Clever Concealment, the deck maintains board dominance while continuously suppressing opposing creature strategies.
