Deck overview

This deck is an explosive Rakdos midrange and combo-burn archetype built around Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug provides an 8/7 indestructible flying body with haste that converts any noncombat damage dealt to him into an equal number of Treasure tokens. The deck uses efficient, high-damage self-harm spells like Cut Propulsion, Self-Destruct, Kiku's Shadow, and Blasphemous Act to trigger Smaug and generate massive bursts of 8 to 16 Treasures in a single action. These Treasure floods convert directly into victory through two main avenues: artifact-entry and sacrifice drain triggers from creatures like Ingenious Artillerist, Reckless Fireweaver, and Mirkwood Bats, or raw mana acceleration into lethal X-spells such as Crackle with Power and Exsanguinate. Supported by backup treasure engines including Ancient Copper Dragon and Goldspan Dragon, the deck reliably presents a game-ending threat by Turn 5 or 6 while utilizing Smaug's indestructible keyword to shrug off standard damage and destroy-based board wipes.
