Deck overview

This Mono-Black list pairs Zombie tribal with a critical mass of Liliana planeswalkers under Liliana, Heretical Healer // Liliana, Defiant Necromancer. The front face is a 3-mana lifelink creature that transforms when another nontoken creature dies - easy with Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Altar, Yawgmoth, Thran Physician, or Warren Soultrader - into a planeswalker that forces discards, reanimates nonlegendary creatures, and ultimates into a recursion emblem. She is convenient, not essential: nine other Lilianas, a full lord-and-token package, and several loops live entirely in the 99. Wins come from Gray Merchant of Asphodel devotion drains, go-wide Zombie combat, Gravecrawler sacrifice loops with The Meathook Massacre, and Chain of Smog plus Professor Onyx. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician form a slower undying engine. The deck is a midrange grind that converts a graveyard and a wide board into table-wide drain.
