Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Ayara, First of Locthwain and executes a classic Aristocrats strategy. It combines low-cost recurring creatures, token generators, and sacrifice outlets to turn creature deaths into steady life drain and card advantage. Ayara serves as a sacrifice outlet, card draw engine, and life-drain payoff from the command zone. The deck ramps steadily into mid-game mass-drain powerhouses such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Bolas's Citadel, and The Meathook Massacre. Supported by high functional redundancy in sacrifice fodder (Reassembling Skeleton, Bloodsoaked Champion, Bloodghast) and passive drain effects (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Bastion of Remembrance), the deck sustains continuous pressure while maintaining card velocity. It exerts strong creature control via edicts and board wipes, grinding opponents down to zero life through unavoidable life loss.
