Deck overview

This mono-black Commander deck is built around Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, weaponizing symmetrical card draw into lethal group-slug life loss. The deck leverages artifacts and creatures like Teferi's Puzzle Box, Font of Mythos, and Master of the Feast to turn opponents' card advantages into punishing 2-life tax triggers while simultaneously granting the pilot an enormous life total buffer. Supported by classic black big-mana engines such as Cabal Coffers and Crypt Ghast, the deck can cast sweeping board wipes like Toxic Deluge and devastating burst spells like Peer into the Abyss to close out matches. A robust suite of cheap protection spells, including Mithril Coat, Lightning Greaves, and recursion auras, keeps Sheoldred alive across multiple rotations. While vulnerable to artifact removal and lacking stack interaction, the deck presents a relentless, inevitable clock against pods that rely heavily on drawing extra cards.
