Deck overview

This mono-black Commander deck is built around Maha, Its Feathers Night, utilizing its static ability to reduce all opponents' creature base toughness to 1 to engineer catastrophic, asymmetric board clears and creature lockouts. By packing over a dozen low-mana -1/-1 effects and continuous damage sources—such as Caltrops, Dry Spell, Ascendant Evincar, Plague Spitter, and Massacre Wurm—the deck turns minor debuffs into one-sided board wipes that repeatedly dismantle opposing boards. The deck leverages these widespread death triggers into massive resource swings through Gisa, Glorious Resurrector, Syr Konrad, the Grim, Blood Artist, and Massacre Girl, Known Killer. Mana scaling is fueled by classic mono-black engines like Cabal Coffers and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, culminating in explosive finishes via commander damage, large drain spells like Exsanguinate and Gray Merchant of Asphodel, or the infinite Exquisite Blood plus Sanguine Bond combo.
