Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu combat list spearheaded by Kaalia of the Vast. The primary game plan revolves around casting Kaalia on curve, protecting her briefly, and declaring attacks to cheat enormous, game-warping Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. Payoffs like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight and Drakuseth, Maw of Flames rapidly accelerate the clock, while creatures such as Angelic Arbiter and Sephara, Sky's Blade supply asymmetric combat and defensive advantages. Because the deck relies heavily on Kaalia to bypass hefty mana costs, its primary bottleneck is commander vulnerability and a modest card draw engine. When Kaalia connects unhindered, the overwhelming aerial board presence can eliminate the entire table across consecutive combat steps by Turn 8.
