Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses Lathril, Blade of the Elves to execute a classic tribal swarm and life-drain strategy. In the early turns, efficient mana dorks like Llanowar Elves, Elvish Mystic, and Fyndhorn Elves accelerate deployment, allowing Lathril to hit the battlefield on Turn 3. Connecting in combat creates 1/1 Elf Warrior tokens, rapidly building a wide board presence. Tribal multipliers like Elvish Promenade, Imperious Perfect, and Elvish Archdruid swell creature counts to 10 or more by Turn 5. This enables Lathril's activated ability to drain 10 life from each opponent repeatedly while buffering life totals. Backup combat lines powered by Elvish Warmaster's deathtouch pump and Dionus, Elvish Archdruid untap triggers maintain forward momentum if the commander is removed. The deck generates strong mana velocity, but relies heavily on maintaining a wide creature board, making it vulnerable to sweepers and spot removal.
