Deck overview

Y'shtola, Night's Blessed is a control-drain deck. The commander turns every large noncreature spell into a Bolt and uses incidental life loss-from fetches, pain lands, Black Market Connections, and opponents' damage-to draw an extra card each turn. The deck uses Esper's best countermagic, removal, and pillow-fort enchantments to survive, then chains spells with Bolas's Citadel. Drain multipliers such as Papalymo, Circle of Power, and Blind Obedience turn each spell into 3-5 damage to every opponent. It can also win via Bloodchief Ascension or the Citadel's sacrifice mode. There is no hidden commander; both roles point at Y'shtola as the primary engine.
